Mishimoto recommends that this intercooler kit, with or without the optional intake, not be used with the stock ECU programming. It is recommended that the customer tunes the ECU after installation of the intercooler kit. Power gains vary depending on turbo size, exhaust system, fuel system, and the type of ECU tuning done to the vehicle. This kit is designed for about 700 HP at the wheels or 2.06bar turbo boost. For higher HP or boost, a custom front-mount intercooler may be required.

Designed for applications demanding maximum airflow and cooling performance, the Mishimoto STI front-mount intercooler kit equips your Subaru with the ability to achieve the highest possible horsepower and torque. This Mishimoto STI intercooler is designed with a large intercooler core to provide maximum cooling efficiency without significant pressure drop, which can wear out any turbocharger over time. The Mishimoto STI intercooler features smooth, cast end tanks that are CFD tested for maximum airflow without corners and bends that can disrupt airflow in other designs. This intercooler offers the best airflow and heat exchange properties for time attack rounds or blazing through the quarter mile in 10 seconds.

The Mishimoto Subaru STI front-mount intercooler is supplied with four mandrel-bent aluminum pipes for optimal airflow. The hot-side pipes are 57mm in diameter to keep airflow velocity high, ensuring quick turbo response without the lag often associated with front-mount intercoolers. The cold side of the system has three mandrel-bent aluminum pipes for maximum airflow that matches the throttle body's diameter. This kit is compatible with both OEM and aftermarket bypass or blow-off valves.

The kit includes everything needed for a hassle-free installation, including a custom bumper beam that supports the intercooler and mounts to existing points on the vehicle. No cutting or drilling is required to install the front bumper reinforcement. The kit includes all necessary mounting brackets, including one for relocating the coolant overflow tank. All brackets come with the corresponding hardware, cable ties, and heat protection. This kit includes every connector and clamp needed for a proper installation, even if you opt for the additional Mishimoto intake for extra cooling performance. For turbos larger than the stock unit, Mishimoto includes an extra hot-side pipe designed for larger turbos, fitting turbos with a 51-54mm outlet.
Mishimoto has tested this intercooler on the STI with 320 HP at the wheels to observe significant reductions in intake temperature, and the intercooler has been flow tested for over 600 HP at the wheels! This kit is available with a silver or black intercooler.
