This high-quality universal intercooler core from Garrett is based on advanced aerospace technology and provides a premium solution for custom intercooler projects.

Whether used in motorsport or street applications, this core is the ideal choice when it comes to industry-leading technology, maximum efficiency, and reliable performance. The construction is specifically engineered to withstand the extreme boost pressures and temperatures of modern high-performance engines, offering excellent resistance to material fatigue.

With over 75 years of experience in charge air cooling, Garrett is one of the leading developers in this field and a preferred partner for many of the top names in the performance and tuning industry.

The bar-and-plate design ensures maximum strength and efficiency. The exceptionally thin internal bars increase the active cooling surface, reduce weight, and minimize pressure drop. This is complemented by high-density offset cooling fins, which provide highly efficient reduction of intake air temperatures.

Each intercooler core is rated for a specific horsepower level, making it easier to match the correct core to your performance target.

As a general guideline, the largest possible core should be used, provided it can be properly integrated within the available space and suitable end tanks can be manufactured. For air-to-air intercoolers, sufficient ambient airflow through the core is also critical for optimal cooling performance.

A well-designed intercooler ensures consistent airflow through both the end tanks and the core, maximizing cooling efficiency while minimizing pressure drop. A certain pressure drop between inlet and outlet is unavoidable by design, but it can be significantly reduced with an optimized layout. Side-entry end tanks often provide advantages in flow distribution and pressure drop, although they are not always feasible due to vehicle space constraints.

For installation, a soft-mount setup using rubber isolation grommets is recommended to reduce vibration, minimize structural stress, and compensate for thermal expansion.
