Core assemblies serve as replacement parts in case of damage or if you wish to create a combination with compressor and turbine housings that are not directly available for purchase. Core assemblies are the central component of the turbocharger and consist of the bearing housing with all internal components, as well as the turbine wheel and compressor wheel. To mount the compressor housing, you will need the appropriate installation kit or V-band clamp. Both can usually be reused during a repair. For the turbine housing, you will also need the installation kit, which should definitely be replaced during a repair. If the turbine housing has a wastegate valve, you will need a pressure capsule and the appropriate retaining plate.
